Do You Struggle To Shop For Cameras?

By | Dec 10, 2011

The digital camera market has been flooded with new models in the past few years so it is getting really difficult to pick one. Another big problem is that because even the most basic camera now will have 10 or 12 megapixels then suddenly nobody is using that as a judge of how good a camera is. So companies have started to launch cameras with lots of complex and strangely named features that they promise will help you take the perfect picture, but how are you supposed to compare features side by side like we did so easily with things like the amount of megapixels?

Let’s cut through all the fluff though and below are the only 4 things I think you should be looking for in your new camera:

Metal case: This is pretty standard now I know, but you have to be careful if you look at cheaper models that they don’t try to give you a plastic case, they just aren’t as durable and you want a camera that is going to last. It also makes the camera look so much more classy and expensive, and you don’t have to have boring colors anymore, you can get metal cases in pretty much any color you want now, even pink as you can see on BestPinkDigitalCamera.net.

Anti-motion blur: Pretty much all cameras have this, but if you are buying a cheaper camera then make sure you check for it. Some people make sure they have their hands completely steady as they take a picture, but most of us are too busy having fun or trying to capture the moment to worry about that, which could lead to blurry pics without this. That is where this feature comes in, it will automatically try and stablize your camera and the shot so your pictures still come out perfect. It can’t work miracles though so don’t try and take pictures on a trampoline, but it really helps out.

Video: I don’t know about you but when I am on holiday then I can’t be bothered to carry around lots of different things, so having both a camera and some sort of video recorder would be a nightmare! The best solution is to get a digital camera which can also take some high quality video for you too. Ok it isn’t going to be the same kind of quality as a dedicated piece of equipment just for capturing video, but it is pretty good and it gives you something to remember the holiday with without all the hassle.

Intelligent Automatic Mode: Some people really enjoy getting into the details for each photo and having to adjust all the different modes and light or aperture settings on the camera. But for the rest of us then it is just a major headache and I am always worried I will have it on completely the wrong settings and ruin the shot! Having an auto mode on your camera means you can leave all that to the camera and it will analyse the scene for you, decide which mode is best, which lighting settings are best, whether to use the flash or not and much more, all in a matter of seconds, so you can get the best picture possible every time. With the camera taking control of all the settings then it leaves you free to just have fun and take pictures!
