What is the best digital camera for the money?

By Admin | Aug 4, 2009

When deciding on a digital camera, these days it is much more important to get the best value for your money than it is to get the absolute best camera. Times are hard these days after all. In this world of gadgets the goalposts are constantly moving and so it isn’t always easy to answer the ‘which is the best value..’ question.

Camera manufacturers are always bringing out new models with new features and more bells and whistles most of which you will never even know about let alone use. All you really need though is a camera with a good lens, battery life and usability.

I would have to say that my personal favorite best digital camera for the money is the Canon Powershot SX10 IS. It comes with a wide-angle 20x zoom lens and a cool swivel LCD. Also, even with this ambitious zoom lens, the camera has good corner to corner sharpness and keeps distortion in check.

It is particularly good for indoors low light conditions as it strikes a balance between noise and detail. No more blurry shots indoors. It also has a fantastic movie mode, and is perfect if you are looking for both a camera and a camcorder.

Some other features include red eye detection and removal, motion detection technology and an optical image stabilizer that eliminates camera shake. The only downside that I can think of with this camera is that you cannot take pictures in RAW mode. It is more versatile and performs much better than any other camera within the price range.
