I have found that the following digital cameras in this area are probably the best for under $300.
1) Nikon Coolpix S610 – With it’s versatile zoom lens for great action and landscape shots, and 10 megapixel images, this camera is one of the most highly rated digital cameras for under $300. It can even adjust the settings automatically depending on the scene in your viewfinder.
2) Casio Exilim EX-Z300 – This camera is simple, small but carries enough features to be a fine ‘user camera‘. It has face recognition and anit-shake with a good selection of pre-programmed settings for the best shot in any environment. It even has a YouTube capture made for shooting videos to upload on the web.
3) Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 – This ultracompact camera may offer the best wide-angle lens available for cameras of this type. It is lighter than the FX35 but keeps all the features that made the FX35 such a fun camera. With it’s 10.1 megapixel sensor you will produce some great images with this pocket camera.
4) Olympus FE-370 – The photo technology on this Olympus is amazing. It features a very impressive 5x optical zoom plus image stabilization, all inside an ultra slim body. Sharp image quality and real hassle free performance is great for camera users on the move.
5) Kodak EASYSHARE Z1012 IS – Capture sharp steady shots with the built in image stabilization even when shooting at long zoom ranges. Boasting only a 0.23 second click to capture speed this camera allows you to easily capture that challenging action shot.
